Convergence at the BAWB Global Forum

All three programs - AMOC, CIGO, and MPOD - were represented during yesterday's session of the BAWB Global Forum at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio!

The witty and funny Paul of Ashridge Consulting and AMOC 7 was in attendance.

From CIGO, the recently retired Rene Bouwen participated at one of the more-than-50 round table conversations that dared to Dream a future where business manifests itself as an agent for world benefit.

Representing MPOD 2006 were Debbie, Joanna (Najma), and yours truly. And David, an MPOD 2007 candidate, was in attendance from the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Of course, many of the Organizational Behavior faculty and lecturers at Case were in attendance, including MPOD Director Ron Fry, Richard Boyatzis, new professor Diane Bergeron, Melvin Smith, the blogging Management Professor Sandy Piderit, our favorite sprite and sage Danielle Zandee, and illustrious convener David Cooperrider.

With in-person and virtual attendees number close to 1000, this list is certainly not comprehensive! However, other luminaries and friends I spotted and whom you might recognize from your research papers or studies included Frank Barrett, Nancy Adler, William Starbuck, Jim Ludema, Judy Rodgers (Executive Director of BAWB), Leslie Sekerka, Nadya Zhexembayeva (Director of the BAWB World Inquiry), Ante Glavas, David Bright, and Lindsey Godwin.

London AI Event

From Anne Radford on the AI Listserve:

Hi everyone,

Delivering results in business by using appreciative inquiry is the focus of this Dialogue. David Gilmour had only one option when he took over a business in BP - improve the results! He decided to get everyone involved and used a range of methods including AI to do that.

If you can come along, it would be great to see you. If you can tell others about the event, please do.

The venue is in the cultural quarter of London - next door to Tate Modern.
Time: 10.30am to 3.30pm - so time to get to a pub to watch the World Soccer Quarter Finals or go to the new Kandinsky at the Tate!

For more info, go to http://www.aradford.co.uk/Pagefiles/events.htm#dialogues

CIGO Visits Case

The CIGO group visits Case April 24 - 28. Plans for workshops, AI study, site visits, and general merrymaking are in the works.

Danielle is the point person for the arrangements, but several MPODs are working with her to make the trip a memorable one.

If you have ideas for Danielle and the "planning committee," please don't hesitate to let one of us know.

Business As an Agent of World Benefit

The third annual International BAWB Online Conference is scheduled for May 4 and 5. The conference is 'virtual,' and can be accessed online from anywhere in the world. You can read more about it at the BAWB web site.

The topic is 'UN Millenium Development Goals as Business Opportunity.'

There is an associated call for posters and interactive working papers! This could be an interesting way for us to contribute as a group.

Side note: The MPOD collaborative web site is built on and hosted by iCohere, the same platform that is being used for the BAWB Online Conference. If AMOC or CIGO students are interested in seeing how MPOD students collaborate at a distance, participating in the conference will allow them to experience a little of that.
